Treating Your Feet Right

We’re so hard on our poor feet. We use them every day, pounding on them, forcing them into ill-fitting shoes, and generally treating them pretty badly. But your feet, like the rest of you, deserve to be pampered and taken care of. Here are some tips to help you do just that.

Healthy Feet are Happy Feet

Remember the part earlier about ill-fitting shoes? Stop wearing those. Take the time and find shoes that fit comfortably – that are snug but not too tight – and start wearing those. Take some time to analyze the wear on your current shoes to see if you’re under or over-pronating (twisting your feet as you walk) and get shoes that can help you adjust. Simply wearing the right shoes will give you a leg up, so to speak, on any future foot problems.

Keep your Feet Pretty

Take the time to make your feet look good. That means moisturizing to keep them supple and soft and using a pumice stone to scrape off any excess dry skin. Keep them from getting too wet or too dry and you’ll keep any skin from peeling off and detracting from their appeal. Don’t ignore your toes either – getting a regular pedicure will make sure you don’t end up with a painful ingrown nail – and ensure they’re ready to look great either with nail polish or without.

Reflexology

A foot massage can feel absolutely fantastic but there’s actually a step up from that. Reflexology is a discipline that follows the belief that many of the body’s centres of well-being are connected to areas of the feet. Proper manipulation of those areas will result in a happier and healthier you. Even if you don’t believe that, it still feels absolutely great, and your feet will thank you for it.

Taking care of your feet is an important part of taking care of yourself. Don’t neglect them and they’ll be ready for you when you need them. If you’re interested in getting your feet pampered through a pedicure or reflexology treatment contact us at May Blossom Spa today.
